Our Story & Mission
Our Story
Inspired by Tradition and the Arts
Fostering Community
Sergio first had yerba mate as a child in Urubamba, Peru. He fondly remembers sharing stories and laughing with people in the town as they would sip and pass the gourd around in a circle. Sergio started Icaro to foster a sense of community through yerba mate.
Plant-Based Energy
Adam first had yerba mate in 2010 while touring with his band in Heidelberg, Germany. Exhausted from his first performance of the day, he asked if anyone had something with caffeine. A Spanish bass player from another band handed him a bottle of yerba mate. He immediately felt energized and loved that it was coming from a natural source. Adam started Icaro to share the incredible energy and focus one can get from drinking yerba mate.
Our Mission
Community Oriented & Responsibly Sourced
We are proud to give 1% of sales to Arts education in our community through our partnership with Living Classrooms Foundation
Why arts education matters to us
Students with high arts participation and a low socioeconomic status have a five times lower dropout rate than their peers
Low-income students that are highly engaged in the arts are twice as likely to graduate college
We believe the Arts are essential to fostering creativity and joy
Our Commitment to Quality
We source our ingredients from organic farms that prioritize the quality of their crops and the treatment of workers. Our goal is to create the best tasting yerba mate possible, which means never compromising on quality.
